Nobody likes a half-assed jingler! I just couldn’t wait to share these Christmas images with you as well, taken two years ago when I was with my very best friend and her amazing family. I’ve been spending Christmas with them for the last two years so it feels a bit strange not to be with them this year again. However, I am going back to Stockholm for a couple of days in January and I hope to see them then!
Just a little throwback to London 2012. Every season in that city is extraordinarily charming but it’s been too long now since I’ve seen the Christmas lights on Oxford Street and New Bond Street! The ambiance is incredible, not least in the shops as you can see. My pictures above are from Covent Garden and Harrods. But, maybe Christmas, she thought, doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more!
After having a quick lunch with my mum today at Joe & The Juice, Emporia, I went to the city centre of Malmö to buy some Nespresso coffee capsules. Emergency Christmas replenishment! If I am going to live through Christmas holidays at work, caffeine is essential. I went a little crazy this time and tried some new flavours: floral and wild Bukeela ka Ethiopia, the new Variations Limited Edition inspired by Austrian pastries – Linzer Torte (redcurrant tart) and, of course, my one and only cappuccino and latte favourite – long roasted and velvety Dharkan. Besides, I still have a couple of powerful and contrasting Ristretto left at home. Chances are, I will survive the period ahead.

I’ve been longing for the Christmas season for quite some time now, and it’s finally here! I love to get in the mood with Christmas songs, films and not least – adverts (I’m sure you can tell by now)! Here’s a cute one from Heathrow Airport that I recently found. British adverts are beyond compare. The majority of the Christmas adverts I’ve seen and shared with you, I would be delighted to see as full-length feature films. There are several brilliant narratives with great messages, not to mention the various remarkable characters!
Christmas with love from Mrs Claus makes me realise what truly makes me happy – my siblings. Their happiness. I wish I could give them everything they ever wanted, but most importantly, I wish I could be with them and share the joy. I really appreciate all the time I get to spend with them (which, unfortunately, is not too often). It doesn’t matter if we just talk over the phone or if we only meet a few minutes to say hello; each and every moment is precious.
Christmas – the most wonderful time of the year – unless you’re a Hamleys employee and have to wrap teddy bears and other toys that are ‘mission impossible’ ha-ha! Today it is three years ago I started working as a Christmas employee at Hamleys (The Finest Toy Shop in the World) in Malmö. Undoubtedly a festive season and a very merry time of my life!
Breaking news, Sainsbury’s Christmas advert this year is, in my opinion, way better than John Lewis’s. Sainsbury’s The Greatest Gift is very captivating and contemporary. I can easily relate to: “I don’t have time, there’s only one of me”. Watch it!
It’s worth peeking at John Lewis’s Christmas advert too, it’s just that I expected something more sentimental in line with previous years. Buster The Boxer is, regardless, very sweet!
Last but not least, another wonderful Christmas/winter story worth sharing! The excellent moral of the tale: “Make time for what you love”.
My love for good Christmas adverts is endless. This one is heartbreaking but with an extremely important message. Since I will have to spend Christmas alone this year it gets particularly emotional for me. I must work as much as possible the coming months, which means that I need to stay in southern Sweden during the holidays, and I only have my family here… I cannot remember the last time I was welcome to join any of them for Christmas (nor anything else really). I miss my parents and siblings so much. All I want for Christmas – is you.
